Day 06 - Thursday - 3/20/25 - At Sea to Fort Lauderdale - Day 1

After a very refreshing sleep, we rose around 9:30am to what would be a very relaxing day at sea. Sailing at 10 knots makes for a very smooth ride. At breakfast, we enjoyed a very long and pleasant conversation with a couple from South Carolina. We had a lot of common interests and were invited to come stay with them I'd we were in the area. We extended a reciprocal invitation. On these sea days there are a number of sales and we perused the merchandise. For the second time this cruise, they held a deal or no deal game show in the Piazza. The first contestant who was a lady who ended up winning $200 while the second contestant, a man, only for 20 bucks. I find it very fun game show to watch and it's patterned after the TV show of the same name. On this ship, the Piazza is a hot bed of activity throughout the day and night with all measure of activities. There is seating on all three levels with the most seating on decks eight and nine.

I found that a good spot for me to update my blog. My blog update location is on the aft deck on deck nine in the Americana Café area. There's a great stern view and it's relatively quiet. After  watching the game show I returned to stern and found a table on the outside deck which I shared with a fellow named Murray from Winnipeg Canada. We enjoyed the lot of conversation about cruising he was fascinated my creation of a daily blog. A long ways out there, I did see a couple splashes of whales in the far distance and also watched  the Scarlet lady passed by us on its way to the  Bahamas.

Tonight was another formal night and we had an invitation to the captain's circle party but passed on it because I don't have very formal clothes and felt under dressed for the occasion.  We did go to  dinner in the Soleil dining room and had a very enjoyable dinner with two other couples that we have never met before. Both of them were experienced cruisers and once again it was fun to share our cruising experiences and tips. The surf and turf meal was fantastic. The meat was the most tender cut of beef I've ever had on any cruise ship. You could literally cut it with a butter knife. On balance, I would rate the food on board this ship very good and service has been excellent.

Angela ended up going to a marathon karaoke session which lasted until 8:15pm while I went to the Arena entertainment, which was a singer & pianist Alan Davidson, who has been singing in the lounge. He was apparently a substitute for the production show which had to be rescheduled until tomorrow. Afterwards, I joined Angela in the Princess Live venue and participated in the red black game show, which was quite fun. One had to guess which item came first and there were 25 questions. We scored 16 out of 25 but the winner score 20 out of 25. Jason Byrd, the magician gave a show in the Piazza and that was fun to watch. He's a very good magician. The last entertainment of the  evening was The  Marriage Match game show which started at 10:30 PM. It was a PG 16 rated show, but one of the couples had a teenage daughter who was filming their participation in the show which had to be a little uncomfortable due to some of the risqué questions.

My favorite view

Tonight we have to set our clocks forward another hour to Miami time so we will lose an hour of sleep. But tomorrow is another lazy day at sea.
